GV II*

House. C16/C17 with C19 cross-wing; part of front wall
rebuilt, c1990. Main part: coursed limestone rubble; steeply
pitched stone slate roof laid in diminishing courses; coped
gables with finials and stone internal stacks and end stacks
with diagonal shafts. L-plan.
EXTERIOR: single storey plus attic with 2-storey-and-attic
wing to right. 3-window range. Entrance in cross-wing has
studded plank door in moulded wood door-frame; gabled open
timber porch. Ground floor has four 4-light recessed
chamfered-mullioned windows with hoodmoulds and label stops,
the one on right partly obscured by a buttress. Three 3-light
similar windows to 1st floor. 3 gabled dormers flush with main
wall have 2-light stone-mullioned windows, coped gables and
finials. Part to left of limestone with rendered brick;
perpendicular stack. Gabled dormer to left.
Wing of 2 storeys has wooden mullioned-and-transomed windows
to ground and first floors.
INTERIOR: broad beams; room to left has fireplace with
bressumer and flanking cupboards; dog-leg stair and winder
stair, 4-centred stone fireplaces, panelling, plank doors,
original floor boards. Possibly has good barn to rear.
