House. c1340 with C17 alterations, c1700 wing and C19
addition. Regular coursed blue lias limestone and brick laid
to English bond; steeply pitched partly renewed tile and stone
slate roof with large stone stack to front of ridge with 2
diagonal shafts and similar lateral stack. L-plan.
EXTERIOR: single storey plus attic; 3-window range with
2-storey gabled wing to right. Entrance to left of centre has
brick jambs and 6-panelled door in moulded frame and gabled
rustic porch. Canted bay window to left end has small-paned
glazing with iron opening casement; blocked opening under
timber beam to left of entrance; to right of entrance is a
labelmould to former window over 3-light small-paned casement
with iron opening casement; small window with chamfered
opening to right and blind wall to right of stack. 3 gabled
dormers, the large stone central one flush with wall has a
2-light recessed chamfered-mullioned window with labelmould;
smaller dormers with 2-light small-paned casements with iron
opening casements; wing has segmental-headed window with
3-light small-paned casement with iron opening casement to
each floor.
Right return has stone plinth and large external lateral stack
with stone quoins and shafts; window to left of stack has
altered 3-light small-paned casement, similar window above has
C20 casement. C20 addition to rear.
INTERIOR: not inspected; recorded as having 2-bay open hall
with base-cruck central truss carrying crown post; 2 aisled
trusses; spere truss or intermediate partition; carpentry
features include dragon ties (Leverhulme Cruck Project).
