GV II

2 terraced houses and attached railings to right. c1800-20
with later additions and alterations. Stucco over brick with
concealed roof, brick end and party-wall stacks; wrought- and
iron balcony and railings. Italianate style.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys on basement, 5 first-floor windows (2:3).
Stucco detailing includes pilasters to either side of central
ground-floor window of right house (No.114); continuous
first-floor band with sunk panel; aprons below first-floor
windows, a further apron to centre of left house indicates
that the central window has been covered in. First floor has
6/6 sashes; ground floor has two 6-pane French windows with
overlights, all with margin-lights (to left house) and 2 tall
6/9 sashes with radial glazing to head in tooled, round-arched
surround. Basement has 3/6 sashes. Left entrances: flight of
roll-edged steps have 6-panel, part-glazed doors with
fanlights with batwing and circle glazing bars, that to right
in sunk architrave. Low parapet and copings.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: ground-floor balcony to right (No.114)
has rods, some embellished, which continues as railings to
sides of steps. To left are remains of a porch with lozenge
and oval motifs.
HISTORICAL NOTE: railings formerly to No.112 were noted by
Chatwin as a design used c1805-20.
