Terraced house, now flats. c1820-50. Stucco over brick with
concealed roof and cast- and wrought-iron verandah. Double
depth plan with full-height service range to rear.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys with basement, 3 first-floor windows.
Stucco detailing includes rustication to ground floor with
voussoir over openings; first-floor band; crowning frieze,
cornice, blocking course with copings. 6/6 sashes throughout,
taller to first floor, in plain reveals and with sills. Flight
of renewed steps to left entrance a 4-panel door with
fanlight.
INTERIOR: reputed to have original dogleg staircase with stick
balusters and wreathed handrail, otherwise with not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: first-floor verandah has double scroll
with embellished rods to balustrade with scroll and oval
motifs to uprights and Greek key frieze.
Occupies an important corner site at the junction of London
Road and Hales Road.
