Terrace of 3 houses, some now flats, and attached railings to
Nos 103 and 105. Numbered right to left, described left to
right. c1820-50. Stucco over brick with slate roof, mansard to
centre (No.105); brick and stucco left end and party-wall
stacks with cornices; iron railings and wrought-iron window
guards.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys with basement, attic to centre, 7
first-floor windows (3:2:2). Stucco detailing includes
horizontal rustication to ground floor, tooled first-floor
band surmounted by pilaster strips with sunk panels and
first-floor band with sunk panels; continuous frieze, cornice
to 2 houses at right (raised as capitals to centre house).
Windows have tooled architraves with sills, those to second
floor (to No.17) on feet. Windows: first floor has 6/6 sashes
where original; second floor has 3/6 sashes throughout; ground
floor has tripartite windows mainly 1/1 sashes, that to No.105
has 1/1 between 2/2 sashes; all in plain reveals. Attic to
No.105 has C20 3/6 sashes. Entrances: C20 doors with
overlights, those 2 to right have glazing bars; that to left
(No.107) has distyle Ionic porch with architrave, frieze and
cornice.
INTERIOR: photographs taken in 1990 show No.105 has tooled
architraves to doors and moulded cornices, otherwise not
inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: first-floor window guards to Nos 103 and
105 have rod and circle motif, similar to Nos 4, 6 and 8
Montpellier Spa Road (qv) (c1823). Flattened spearhead area
railings and gates with urn finials, probably by Wheeler
(lettering badly worn).
