A symmetrical pair of cottages 1886 by Douglas and Fordham for the 1st
Duke of Westminster. Oak frame with plaster panels on a sandstone
plinth, with grey slate roofs. Red brick chimneys with spiral-
moulded flues and sandstone caps. Two storeys with jettied upper
storey and front gable on shaped brackets. Rectangular panels, some
containing chevrons and patterned timber decoration. Oak mullioned
windows with patterned leaded glazing. Modern replacement windows at
rear. Shaped boarded doors of oak on ornate wrought iron hinges.
Interior. Newel staircases with flat shaped balusters. Four-panel
doors with moulded stiles and rails.
The cottages are designed and detailed in the form of an oak-framed
farmhouse of circa 1600.
