SJ 35 NE POULTON C.P. STRAIGHT MILE
(East side)

5/153 Poulton Hall Farmhouse

II

Farmhouse 1860 for the 2nd Marquis of Westminster - a little-altered
example of his estate improvements. Flemish bond brickwork with grey
slate gabled roof. 3 rectangular brick chimneys with sandstone caps.
A long farmhouse with cheesemaking rooms at left end, under the same
roof: 2 storeys, 7 windows, small-pane cast iron casements in timber
sub-frames, of 4 and 6 lights with transome to lower windows.
Six-panel front door in end gable (right) under stone label-mould
lintel. Framed and boarded back door. A straightforward building,
little adorned.
