GV II
House. Mid-C17 with C20 alterations and additions. Timber framed with
painted brick nogging on sandstone rubble plinth, south-eastern gable
end rebuilt in late C20 with concrete block infill; painted brick and
rendered additions with planted timbers; plain tile roofs. L-plan;
2 framed bays with later additions. 2 storeys. Probably early C20
gable off-centre to left and brick ridge stack off-centre to right.
Framing: square panels (4 from sole-plate to wall-plate) with short
straight corner braces. Irregular fenestration, 4 windows to first
floor and 3 to ground floor; late C20 two- and 3-light wooden case-
ments, and small C19 first-floor casement to right; pair of C20 half-
glazed doors between first and second window from right and C20 steel
garage door in addition to left. Interior: chamfered beams and joists
with ogee stops; chamfered and stopped posts; timber framed cross-
wall; several chamfered ogee-headed door surrounds, one blocked. A
cross-passage passes to the right of the stack. Chamfered ceiling
beams suggest that the rear wing formerly extended further but it
appears to have been largely rebuilt in the early C20.
