On top is a coat of Arms: Quarterly 1 and 4 Or fretty gules a canton ermine (Noel), 3 and 4 Gules a fess wavy between three fleurs de lis or (Hicks). Inescutcheon Argent a cross formee fitchee at the foot sable (Hester Wotton of Marlay, Kent, wife 3) Impaling Argent three battering rams barways in pale proper garnished azure attired or (Elizabeth Bertie, wife 4). Elizabeth and her husband the 3d Viscount are presented standing in effigy.
Three grandchildren are also depicted, distinguished by their parents hand on their head (acknowledging Thou art mine).
Central inscription, within a laurel wreath: To the pious Memory of hir said Deare Husband their and her owne Childre Elizabeth his last wife in hir lifetime gave money & left orders for the erecting this Monument which by her 3d Son & Executor the honourable John Noel was punctually performed 1686.
Inscription at the bottom left of the monument: Here resteth Baptist Noel Lord Viscount Campden Baron of Ridlington and Ilmington, Lord Lieutenant of the County of Rutland. His eminent Loyalty to his two Sovereigns, King Charles I and II, his Conjugal Affection for Four Wives; his Paternal Indulgence to Nineteen Children, his Hospitality and Liberality to all that desired or deserved it) notwithstanding inestimable Losses in his Estate, frequent Imprisonments of his Person, Spoil and Havock of several of his Houses, besides the Burning of that Noble Pile of Campden) have justly rendered him the Admiration of his Contemporaries, and the Imitation of Posterity.
