The east window, by A. Gibbs, This window was erected in memory of Charles Earl of Gainsborough, by the grateful tenantry on the Rutland Estate Born Oct 2 1781 died Jun 6 1866. Panels (A1) As many are led by the Spirit of God they are the Sons of God (Romans 8.14). (A2) Weary traveller receives alms of bread. (A3) God is a Spirit and they that worship Him must worship Himin Spirit and in Truth (John 4.24). (B1) Inviting a traveller into ones house. (B2) Except a man be born again he cannot see the Kingdom of God (John 3.3) (B3) Giving a traveller drink. (C1) Greater love hath no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends: Ye are my friends if ye do whatsoever I command ye (John 15.13-17). (C2) Moses and the snake. (C3) As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness even so must the son of man be lifted up that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have eternal life (John 3.14-15). (D1) Praying with a nurse (D2) The blood of Jesus Christ His son cleanseth us from all sin (1 John 1.7). (D3) Woman grasps cloak. (E1) The comforter which is the Holy Ghost which the Father will send In my name he shall teach you all things (John 14.26). (E2) Assisting someone to their feet.
