The Stubbings
II
Former farmhouse, probably 1700 (datestone). Hammer-dressed stone and stone slate
roof. Two storeys. Two-unit plan with double chamfered stone mullion windows to each
floor. Ground floor has string which forms hoodmoulds. The windows are of 3, 4 (now
2) lights to ground floor, and each of 3 lights above between these last are 2 C19
openings. There is a plain C19 doorway which interrupts the jamb of the left window
and a chamfered doorway which makes use of the quoins at the right hand side. One of
the jamb stones is lettered "GEMESE" (? for Emmott). A ruinous extension has similar
massive jambs to a cart entry, one of which is lettered "GME 1700" Interior not
inspected.
