and attached barn
(formerly listed as

II

Farmhouse and attached barn, probably both of mid to later C17 date. Rubble with
stone slate roof to house but asbestos to the barn. Two-storey farmhouse, of 2 units
with continuous outshut at rear. The entry is at the right hand end of the front,
protected by an enclosed stone porch, gabled with kneelers. Chamfered
triangular-headed doorway. There is an unmoulded doorway to the left hand room, but
the remaining openings are double chamfered mullion windows, with hoodmoulds to ground
floor, of 2 lights (formerly 4) and 3 lights (formerly 5) below, and 2 lights
(formerly 3), 2 and 2 (backing each mullion). The side and rear also have 2-light
mullion windows, those to rear lacking mullions, and one 5-light lacking only one
mullion. Two chimneys.
Interior of farmhouse: right hand room has a heck and 2 beams, with chamfered doorways
to the outshut and next room.
The barn has large quoins to 2 original outshuts at the front which have round-headed
small lights. A chamfered doorway stands in the recessed wall connecting the barn to
the house. Inside is a heavy truss resting on corbels.
