House, at one time a public house. C15-C16 in origin, mostly rebuilt mid C18
and later. Stone plinth, upper walls mostly brick, all roughcast and colour-
washed. Dentil eaves, tiled roof with half-hip to front, central brick
chimney. 2 storeys and attic; 2-bay original wing at right angles to road, with
half-bay extension to right. Front end of main wing has traces of first and
second floor band courses, C19-C20 bay window with pair of sashes to ground
floor, C20 paired barred wooden casement to first floor, and small round attic
w:Lndow with brick surround. Half-bay to right has steps up to C19 flush-
panelled door in wooden architrave frame, and C20 paired wooden casement above.
Interior: To centre of original wing is a cruck truss with blades missing below
first floor level. Fragment of another cruck truss in far gable wall. Central
chimneystack mostly removed C20, but winder stair on same axis retained. C17
stop-chamfered beams. Formerly known as the Bell and Crown Inn.
