House with adjoining outbuilding. House is mid-late C17 with slightly later
outbuilding and C18-C19 rear wing. Rear wall of outbuilding has tablet with
initials TC for Thomas Carr, stone mason who succeeded to property 1673. Front
of house raised and refenestrated early C19. Ashlar, with tiled roof and
central brick chimney. 3 storeys and cellar; 2 bays to house. Chamfered
plinth, first floor band course stepped over door, coved stone eaves, coped
gable to right. 4-pane sashes, square to second floor, all in chamfered stone
surrounds. Blocked single lights to centre with similar stone surrounds.
Cellar has partly blocked 4-light window with chamfered stone mullions to left,
and single blocked light to centre. C20 flush-panelled door to right with 2-
light mullioned fanlight and chamfered stone surround. Rear of house has round
window to centre of first floor, and later wing with brick upper storey. Out-
building: to right of front, is partly used as storehouse but was formerly a
barn with large cart entry. 2 storeys; 2 bays, with chamfered plinth and coped
gable to right. Left bay has vent slits and board door to right. Right bay has
board doors and corrugated plastic below lintel and stone infill above. Lintel
rests on stone corbels. Interior: of house has large central chimneystack with
winder staircase in line, stop-chamfered first floor ceiling beams, and large
curved principal trusses with double purlins.
