Church of St Mary, Ashwell

North respond of the north arcade. Round, Early English Gothic with nail head decoration. Attached to it is a small piscina or laving basin. Vessels used in a service would be washed here in water that had been blessed. The water would then escape and sink into the consecrated ground outside. C19 wooden vestry panelling.
