Marble on slate monument with urn. Sacred to the memory of The Reverend James Ord Master of Arts, Christ Church, Oxford and Lord of the Manor of this Parish, third son of William Ord of Whitfield Hall in the County of Northumberland Esquire, by Ann only surviving daughter and heiress of the Renerend William Dillingham MA Rector of Barnwell Northamptonshire. He married Barbara fourth dauighter of Charles Brandling of Gosforth House in the County of Northumberland,Esquire. By whom he had isseue five children James Pickering, Thomas Charles, Susanna, Jemima Elizabeth, and Frances Ann. He died in the 84th year of his age on the 30th of January 1843 When the ear heard him, then it blessed him, and when the eye saw him, it gave witness to him (Job 29.11)- Because he delivered the poor that cried and the fatherless and him that had none to help him (Job 29.12). The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon him and he caused the widows heart to sing for joy (Job 29.13)-. Signed L Yates Le(ice)ster. (Photo Jul 2015).
