On south wall of chancel, an alabaster and slate tablet to Samuel Hill (d 1639) with moulded classical surround with keystone, flanked by Ionic pilasters topped with a broken pediment. Here lyeth the Body of Samuell Hill Dockter of Devinity Presbiter in the Church of England who was born at Blonham in Bedford Sheir , Educated in the most Famos Society of Trinity College in Cambridge By the Space of 28 Yeares where Being one of the Fellowes and having taken all the Degrees of Schoole was first Prebend of the Cathedral Church of Chichester after moved to be Rector of Medbourne in Leicester Sheir and then of this Parish in Laughtor in Both which having Spent 28 yeares with great care Paynes and deligence departed this life the 7 of May Being of the age of 70 yeare or there abouts Anno Domini 1639-. The native life of man is but a shade/ Which soon doth shew itselfe and soon doth fade/ My hidden life with Christ is that I prise/ Hast hast, O Lord, to see it with my eies. Librorum index, Liberorum Pater indulgentissime fascicule virtutem/ Ecclesiae fili Obsequentissime hoc marmor Thiei Filiae Tuae, et ancillae, Anna, Elizabetha,/ Reposuere tu tibi Longe Pulchrius, Quod te Aeternitatis Sacrabit/ Non Dolent Filiae Superari a Patre Dolent praemisisse Laetantur talem.
