House in row. C15 origins, modified in C19. Local stone rubble
roughly coursed, with Doulting stone dressings, clay pantiled
roof between coped gables, brick chimney stack. One-unit plan.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 2 bays. Sash windows of 4 panes, with a
double unit to bay 1 ground floor. Entrance in bay 2, with a
2-panel door set in simple deep-chamfered stone surround.
Traces of earlier window joint to left of lower bay 1, and old
window head above the modern windows, and between the window
unit and the door traces of the jambs and head of a 2-light
C15 window, with pointed relieving arches to both bays, both
upper windows set into ashlar surrounds with traces of
moulding to heads. Rear wall has a 4-centre arched doorway,
hollow-chamfered, possibly relocated, with a similar doorway
adjacent in rear extension.
INTERIOR: not inspected but noted to include ground-floor room
with 4-panel ceiling with hollow-chamfered beams, the room now
reduced by a later partition.
Reroofed in late C16 with collar trusses, contemporary in date
with No.26 (qv); VAG argue that this may be C15, and
functioned as a hall with No.26 being the service room.
