Detached house, set well back from street. Late C18/early C19.
Rendered with false ashlar lining, colourwashed, hipped Welsh
slate roofs, brick chimney stacks.
PLAN: L-plan, with compact main block and short return wing.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and part basement. The main (S) front has
3 windows, all sashes in slightly raised and rounded
surrounds, with stone sills; at first floor with pointed heads
and interlaced bars, and at ground floor 15-pane sashes
flanking a central round-arched doorway with 6-panel door
under fanlight with interlace bars, on 4 concrete steps, and
with plinth.
The right (E) return is plain, with central eaves stack, and
the left return is similar, but with one small pointed light
beneath the stack. The main rear wall has 12-pane sashes at
ground and first floors, and a diagonally set square
decorative cast-iron 'oculus' to the staircase. At basement
level is a C20 two-light casement and a deep-set doorway.
The return wing has 12-pane sashes at ground and first floors,
and a small C20 light to the basement; to the right, at ground
floor level, is a C20 door under a lean-to porch.
INTERIOR: not inspected, but ground-floor windows retain
panelled shutters.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: contained in the angle between the wings
is a sunk square courtyard with stone paving, approached by 13
square-edged steps in a straight flight, without handrail. On
the N side is a decorative cast-iron balustrade set to a
weathered stone coping.
