House, latterly inn, now reverted to domestic use. Late C18 with later
additions and alterations. Red brick on sandstone plinth; slate roof
with integral end stacks and coped verges on carved stone kneelers.
L-plan with lower kitchen range to rear on right largely rebuilt late
C19. 3 storeys with moulded stone eaves cornice to front and dentilled
eaves cornice to rear. 3 windows, 4-paned sashes with gauged heads,
those to ground floor in round-arched recesses with painted stone impost
band. Central entrance also in slight recess, 6-panel door with rectangular
barred overlight and semi-circular wooden hood. Interior: not inspected
but likely to be of interest.
