Alstoe House
3/15
II
Farmhouse, main facade of early C19 but probably representing refronting of
an earlier house. Brick, 2 storeys, 3 bays, symmetrical; a double-pile
plan. Central door in flat pedimented porch on slender wood columns, with
a small light to either side. 8 canted bay windows to either side, and
3-light sash windows above. That to right has flat timber lintel while
others have cambered brick heads, and this right hand bay is probably a
later addition. The rear elevation also has a central entrance in a
latticed porch and a canted bay window to its left, but this left hand bay
is brick, the other 2 of coursed rubble, suggesting an earlier build.
