4/45 Gateway to Burley-on-the-Hill
GV II
Gateway, possibly C17, to Burley-on-the-Hill. Coursed squared rubble,
a round arched wide opening with voussoirsand a dropped keystone, with
blank shield above, in surround with plainpiers, cornice & pediment
topped by obelisks. The gateway is similar to the south gatein Hambleton
Parish & possibly belongs with the previous C17 house on the site, built
by the Duke of Buckingham in the 1st half of the C17.
