Farmhouse. C17 or earlier, renovated with new N porch and S service wing
1882 for Lord Brownlow's Ashridge Estate (stone plaque on porch with
coronet, cipher and '1882'), main range brick cased c.1940. Timber frame
cased in red brick in stretcher-bond. Rear wing and N porch in red
brick. Old red tile roofs. An irregular T-shaped house facing N.
2-storeys with a small gabled porch near middle of N front. 2-light
casement windows with segmental 2-ring arches. Pentice along W side of
rear wing and entrance passage at junction with N part. Post and rail of
timber frame exposed on S wall of W room on ground floor where plaster
damaged. Early C18 2-panel door with ovolo and fillet mouldings. Stone
floored kitchen in S wing.
