House. Circa 1600, S part (possibly a byre) heightened when incorporated
into house in C17 and floor inserted in hall. Timber framed with painted
brick infill, at rear painted brick ground floor. Steep old red tile
roofs. A 2-storeys 4-windows long house set back from road facing E with
additional dormer windows lighting the upper floor, and single-storey
lean-to extension at N end. Possibly a long-house derivative plan with
2-bays house of possibly storeyed N-bay and probably open hall in S bay
with chimney projecting to S into formerly lower byre. E front of
house-part has 2 large hipped dormers, 2 3-light small-paned Yorkshire
sliding casements on 1st floor, and on ground floor a 3-light window, a
modern gabled porch with plank door, and a single- and 2-lights window
to right. Door into lean-to surrounding N external gable chimney.
Similar dormer and casement window in each floor of LH wing. Wide-spaced
storey-height framing with straight tension braces exposed at rear.
Framing of floors and structure exposed inside. Clasped-purlin roof with
windbracing. Chamfered and stopped axial floor beam and squared joists
to N bay with stair in original position on rear wall. Chamfered and
stopped joists and axial beam in hall, with carpenter's assembley marks.
