Of 12th century origin, being the medieval church of the original village.
The old chancel survives as the south choir aisle, the 'nave' to its west
being a yellow brick structure of the Mid C19. The western tower (C1600) is
in 3 stages, the 2 lower being in ironstone rubble, the top in brickwork
with a crenallated parapet; brick quoins. All along the north side is a
Perpendicular structure (1910) in flint with ashlar stone features; random
slate roof, coupled clerestory windows, western gable includes a pattern
of square stones and a high level pair of traceried windows.
