25m to rear of Beechtree
Lodge.

Formerly pigcote, shippon and earth closet, now a study and storage.
C.1815 for Sir J T Stanley. Tooled ashlar red sandstone, Kerridge
stone-slate roof, stone ridge. Rectangular plan. 1 and 2-storey,
5-bay south front. Central 2 bays are 2-storey and a former 2-stall
shippon with hay loft above. To left is 3-light chamfered
stone-mullioned window with 5-board door to right under massive
cambered stone lintel. Central circular pitch hole above is now
glazed. To left is a lower former pigcote with a rectangular door and
the pen wall partly demolished. Similar sized building to right has 2
doors with cambered heads, one opens to a 2-seater earth closet.

A building for a cottage economy as recommended by early C19
agricultural reformers.
