Pair of cottages, No. 48 dated 1698. Dressed sandstone. Clay pantile roof
on No. 50, late C20 concrete tiles on No. 48. Stone gable copings and block
kneelers; stone ridge coping on No. 50. Rebuilt brick end and ridge
stacks. 2 storeys, 2 windows to each cottage. Chamfered plinth;
continuous string course between floors, forming hoodmoulds over entrances.
Doorways at right of No. 48 and centre of No. 50, with Tudor-arched heads.
Moulded surround and renewed door at No. 48; chamfered surround and 4-panel
door at No. 50. Lintel of No. 48 inscribed: "I

1698" Chamfered mullioned
windows, 3-light at left and 2-light above doorway of No. 48, holding fixed
lights and side-hung casements with glazing bars. Mullions largely removed
at No. 50 whose openings now hold mid C20 casements. Circular fire window
with glazing bars within lozenge panel at right of doorway of No. 48.
Additional first-floor window inserted at left of No. 50. Rear extensions
are not of special interest.
