Farmhouse. C17 and early C19. Timber framed and plastered with peg tile roofs.
Substantially of 2 storeys with attics. Of 'L' plan form with 2 storey block
sited north/south and lower 2 storey block at north west corner. The latter has
a single storey pantiled roofed extension with weatherboarded east wall. At its
north end is a further single storey block with gabled roof. The main block has
a continuous catslide roof down over an earlier single storey structure. This
roof slope has a gabled stair tower breaking through the roof slope and a larger
rear wall stack. Front and flank of main block are of ashlared plaster and have
double hung sash window with margin glazing and moulded surrounds. The central
entrance door has an early C19 flat hood. Internally there is a wide inglenook
with moulded mantel beam, many old doors and a C17 short section of stair
handrail. The rear lean-to has diamond mullion windows and ventilated louvre
partitions as pantry. Moated site. RCHM 5.
