Mill. Mainly late C18 for cotton and worsted manufacturer, later
a silk-mill, but incorporating an earlier C17 corn-mill to the
north, now unoccupied. Rubble brought to course, dressed quoins,
stone slate roof. 3 storeys, basement and attic. 15-bays to
river side of windows with plain stone surrounds. Rear has 10 bays
of windows with quoins between the 7th and 8th bays. To the northern
end a wing breaks forward. This has later C19 fenestration and is
of less interest. Left hand return wall has segmental arch for
tail-goit. Right hand return wall has segmental-arched entry for
mill race, windows with monolithic lintels and sills. Is said to
have had 2 waterwheels, one in use until 1919.
