GV II
Bone mill. 1843-4, probably by the Meade brothers; altered
late C19, with extensions at rear and on either side. Killas
and granite rubble walls with granite quoins and brick
dressings to segmental, nearly round-arched openings; battered
quay walls of large granite blocks; brick parapet to temporary
felt and battened roof covering to front range, otherwise
corrugated iron roofs, some with weatherboarded gables, plus
pantiles to small wing on right. 3 storeys plus attics;
4-window range river frontage. Old 2-light transomed windows
(formerly louvred) to most openings; blocked, or
partly-blocked loading doorways towards right; tall mid-floor
window between lower floors, on the left fronting the former
engine-house bay. INTERIOR retains most of the original floor
structures and roof structures; floors of rear wings supported
on reused large iron flanged pipes and granite corbels in the
rear wall of the front range; large round chimney breast
behind front range. A rare example of a building of this type.
