SO 60 NW WEST DEAN PARKEND

9/157 The Vicarage

Vicarage. 1820s, probably contemporary with Church of St. Paul
(q.v.) of 1822. Ashlar Forest stone, hipped tile roof with central
oval skylight, scattered paired diagonally-set brick flues on stone
stacks. Gothick style. Square with single storey wing on south
side containing entrance. Scattered fenestration, all Gothick
pointed lights with glazing bars forming small panes and Y tracery,
non-projecting windows mostly with square hood mould. oriel window
on west side. Entrance has double doors, each studded and with 4-
panels.
Interior retains panelled doors, doorcases, staircase and some
plaster work including vaulted stairwell up to skylight, all in
Gothick. style and main room on south side ground floor has
completely panelled walls and ceiling and matching fireplace.
