Villa, subsequently divided into flats. 1880s. Built by
William Willet.
Yellow stock bricks, lavish use of moulded and incised brick
for cornices, lintels, aprons and string courses, rendered
basement, hipped slate roofs, also hipped to central bay,
flat-roofed billiard room wing, tall stacks rising on returns
with moulded coping.
Plan: double-fronted with billiard room on north front.
2 storeys plus attic over basement, 3:1:3 bays, single-storey
2:3 bay wing left; full-height canted bays flanking entrance
bay, all sash windows without glazing bars in segmental-headed
openings, shaped blind boxes to all windows except in wing
which has astragal leading; cills on shaped brackets, paired
windows to 3-storey central bay flanked by detached
flat-roofed dormers with tripartite sash windows, paired
windows to first floor central bay above round arched opening
carried on rusticated piers with ornate capitals (all
painted), original 6-panel door, sidelights with fanlight
containing original lamp, approached by shallow flight of
steps with tessellated pavement, low wall with handrail
returned to piers.
Billiard room wing to north with parapet and moulded cornice,
canted bay right, blind window opening end bay left.
Interior not seen, may contain features of interest.
Brick wall and square piers, both with moulded stone coping,
fronting road, cast-iron railings missing but single hung gate
survives at northern end.
A handsome villa and one of the best on the Willett estate.
