Pair of houses, now offices, and attached railings. c1830.
Probably by PF Robinson for the 4th Duke of Newcastle. Altered
and restored mid and late C20. Stucco with slate roof, single
ridge and side wall stacks. Brick outer wall to basement.
Rusticated ground floor, first floor sill band, eaves cornice,
coped parapet. Windows are mainly original glazing bar sashes.
3 storeys plus basement and attics; 4 window range. Two
4-panel doors with overlights, and 16-pane sashes to ground
floor. Above, tall sashes with cornices. Above again, smaller
windows with moulded surrounds, 2 to right reglazed. Attics
have 4 casements. Late C20 outer wall to basement, with 2
louvred openings.
Outside, cast-iron area railing to No.147.
