2 houses, now offices. c1827-37, with alterations and
additions mid C19 and C20. Stucco with concrete tile roofs,
coped gables and central ridge stack.
Rusticated ground floor, ground floor sill band, eaves cornice
and blocking course. Windows are mainly original glazing bar
sashes with bracketed cornices to the first floor and moulded
surrounds above.
3 storeys plus rear basement; 4 window range. Symmetrical
front to Park Terrace, with main block flanked by side
entrance bays. In the centre, 2 bow windows, 3 storeys, 2
sashes each. Set back entrance bays have shaped blocking
courses. Ground floors have slightly projecting cross-framed
glazed doors, and above, single windows on each floor.
Rear elevation, to Ropewalk, has mainly original fenestration.
2 rear wings, mid C19, 2 storeys, single bay, with sill band,
cornices and parapets. Left wing has a canted oriel window, 4
sashes, on shaped brackets, and a tall side wall stack with
patterned double flues. Right wing, altered mid C20, has a
tripartite sash.
This building is part of an early scheme by the 4th Duke of
Newcastle to develop the Park Estate.
