Summerhouse cave 45m south-east of

Man made ornamental cave. Dated 1872. Made for Alderman Thomas
Herbert. Rectangular cave, approx. 6m x 2m, with a central
opening on the west side. The walls have relief carvings,
half-columns, and wall recesses ornamented with tufa. In the
centre, a font.
This cave and others nearby were originally garden features in
the grounds of Herbert's house in the Ropewalk (not included).
Overlying buildings are not of special interest.
