1866. 3 storeys. Bath stone. A symmetrical 'Venetian Gothic' front with
delicate detail and good proportion. Moulded string at 1st floor cill level.
Cornice with freely carved bed mould of foliage ornament on machicolated string.
Slate roof. Flanking chimneys of panelled stone with bracketed cornice heads.
3 arched windows on 3rd floor, architrave surround swept out at foot over
moulded cills on pair of brackets. Each window has a carved keystone and
wrot iron scroll pattern flower guard.
On lst floor - central curved bay with narrow arched windows on curved sides
and 2-light casement in centre with curved corners and flat top. Carved frieze
and spandrels, carved mask keystone, cornice with stone ogee-shaped roof,
fruit basket finial and supporting scrolls carved on main wall face. Window
lights separated by narrow shafts with carved caps, curved and bowl shaped
corbelled apron. Bay flanked by 2 windows, similar design, carved spandrels,
keystones, frieze, cornice and cushion tops. Sides framed by 'Gothic' shafts,
carved caps. String breaks forward over brackets for cill on ground floor
- 4-panel door to left hand with shaped upper panels, plain fanlight, recessed
in arched opening, architrave and carved keystone. Surround of semi-engaged
columns, carved caps, moulded base, supporting gabled canopy with moulded
coping to carved finial. Good modern shop front to right hand, in keeping
with whole. A very interesting front. Interior may be of interest. No glazing
bars.

Nos 29 to 42 (consec) and The Market Hall form a group.
