4 houses, now flats, in 2 linked pairs. c1845-50. By TC Hine
of Nottingham for the 4th Duke of Newcastle. Stucco with
stucco dressings, gabled and hipped plain tile and slate
roofs. Each pair has 2 rendered square central stacks.
Rusticated basement, ground floor sill band, eaves cornice,
coped gables. Windows are mainly original glazing bar sashes.
2 storeys plus basement and garrets; 4:4 windows.
Nos 7 & 8, to right, have projecting centre and upper floors
defined by giant pilasters. Central pediment, with original
balustrade to left, replaced by solid parapet to right. Ground
floor has 4 margin light sashes with pediments. Above, 4
sashes. Basement has 4 windows.
Central link, 3 storeys; 2 window range, has irregular
fenestration.
Nos 9 & 10, to left, have eaves cornice, and upper floors
divided into recessed panels by giant pilasters. Ground floor
has 4 sashes with cornices, and above, 4 smaller sashes.
Basement has 3 glazing bar sashes, and a French window to
left.
Each pair has pedimented gables with glazing bar sashes to
garrets. Rear has hipped wings to left and centre.
This building is part of an early scheme by the 4th Duke of
Newcastle to develop the Park Estate.
