A Grade II* Listed Building in Sutton Bonington, Nottinghamshire

The stone bench around this north pier represents the only kind of seating that used to be available to the poor and infirm. Wooden pews had to be rented. Many parish churches had stone benches only at the back of the church or lining part of an aisle, so this example shows more than usual generosity. (Photo May 2008).
