Chancel east window to Sophia Mary Paget, dedicated by her son George Ernest 1896. In the head of the window, the Archangel Michael spears the Devil. below this are two tiny shields 1) Gules three garbs a border erminois and 2) the initials AET. Panels 1) perhaps St Peter, disciple of Christ, first Bishop of Rome and martyr. 2) St Mary Blessed Virgin with blue and white garments. 3) Crucifixion, showing Christ as a sacrifice. 4) St John the Evangelist. a young man with a bible. 5) possibly Paulinus, Archbishop of York and founder of Southwell Minster. A large church with twin towers is at his feet. Below the main panels are symbols for the Evangelists (Gospell makers), Matthew, Angel; Mark, Winged lion; Swan vulnus, a swan stabbing her breast to feed the young with her blood, thus a symbol of Christs sacrifice; Luke, Winged bull; John, Eagle.
