Barn and stable, dated 1758 over wagon entrance but probably later C17.
Coursed sandstone blocks with quoins, stone slate roof. Rectangular 5-bay
plan on north-south axis, the south very close to the rear wall of the house,
the 2nd and 3rd bays on the west side aisled. Square breathers on 2 levels;
segmental arch to recessed wagon doors in 4th bay, the keystone of the arch
incised "I:E:W, a doorway in the left inner side wall of the porch leading
1758"
into the aisle; to the left, the stable in the 1st bay has an old blocked
doorway with large jambstones and lintel, a modern door beyond this; to the
right, the 5th bay has a doorway with rectangular lintel. Rear has opposed
segmental-headed wagon doorway now blocked, and 3 windows. North gable wall,
partly covered by slope at lower ground floor level, has 2 windows at ground
floor, and above and between these a loft door (ground below this showing
remains of earth ramp), a blocked square window to the left. Interior: 2-bay
aisle with aisle post on high pad-stone; curved braces to tie beams; collar
truss roof with angle struts.
