Farmhouse, probably later C17 but part possibly earlier. Coursed sandstone
blocks with quoins, stone slate roof with a chimney at the left gable and
another on the ridge at the junction of the 2nd and 3rd bays. Three-bay plan
with rear outshut stair turret to middle bay and continuous outshut from this
to the gable end of the 3rd bay. Two storeys; south front has inserted plain
doorway to 2nd bay, left of this quoins to the 1st floor of the 1st bay; 3
windows at ground floor and 4 above, all with chamfered surrounds, deeply
recessed ovolo-moulded mullions (now with chamfered render), and
hollow-moulded hoodmoulds: 5, 6 and 4 lights at ground floor, 4, 3, 3 and 4
lights at 1st floor. Left gable has hollow-moulded coping and an inserted
window, right gable has inserted door, 2 inserted windows and a blocked
2-light attic window. Rear: 1st bay has quoins at the inner corner (partly
covered by the stair turret), an inserted door, and at 1st floor a little
blocked lancet. Interior: 1st bay, probably the oldest part of the house, has
beam and joists with cyma-stopped chamfer, and in the chamber above a small
fireplace with Tudor-arched chamfered surround; 2nd bay has 2 very long and
straight beams with cyma-stopped small chamfer.
