TL 1243 OLD WARDEN HIGH STREET (East Side)

GV II

Pair of Shuttleworth Estate cottages. Later C19, probably a reworking of an
earlier building. Clay tile roof with terracotta decorative ridge cresting.
4-room plan, 2 storeys and attics. Style is mixture of classicism and cottage
ornee. Front elevation articulated by giant order pilaster strips. 4 3-light
mullion and transom windows to ground and first floor. 4 gabled dormers with
2-light casements to attic. All windows are cast iron lattice casements.
Dormers and gable ends have wavy-edged bargeboards. Multiple central ridge
stack, integral stacks to both gable ends, all with variety of Tudor style
pots. Included for group value.
