Row of 4 estate workers' cottages. 1st ΒΌ C19 probably by Peter Atkinson (York),
for Edward Lascelles 1st Earl of Harewood; no 47 earlier in origin but rebuilt
mid C19. Hammer-dressed stone, stone slate roof. 2 storeys. 12 1st-floor
windows. No's 48, 49 and 50 (to left of No 47) each of 3 bays having doorway
flanked by windows with window above door all with monolithic lintels cut with
false voussoirs. Later C20 windows added either side 1st-floor window. Break
between No's 48 and 47 to right which has C 18 punch-dressed quoins to ground
floor left and smoother C19 dressed quoins to right: 3 bays with doorway to
left; openings have monolithic lintels margin dressed and the windows retain 12-
pane Yorkshire sashes. 4 stone ridge stacks.
