Pair of houses. c1843. By Walter Scott. Stucco with Welsh
slate roof. 2-storeyed, each a 2-room double-depth plan with
side entrance. Symmetrical 4-window range with projecting flat
porches to each end (with entablature to vertical panelled
round-arched doorway up steps) Wide advanced outer gables,
with canted bay window with heavy moulded cornice and parapet
to ground floor, and sash window with entablature above. Inner
bay of rusticated stucco has 4-light sash window with ornate
wrought mullions and round arched lights (replaced in right
hand window). Hood mould and swag motif over. 16-pane sash
window to first floor. Clifton Park was laid out as a planned
villa estate.
