Pair of attached houses. c1850. Probably by William Armstrong.
Limestone ashlar with stucco sides, rendered ridge and end
stacks, raised party wall, and concrete tile left and slate
right hip roof. Double-depth plan. Italianate style. Each of 3
storeys; 2-window range. A symmetrical pair divided by a
vertical recess at the party wall, with 2-storey entrance
blocks in the ends, and a rusticated ground floor to a plat
band. Doorways with 6-panelled doors; recessed surrounds to
deep ground-floor windows, first-floor windows with
architraves and consoles to canopies with openwork balconies
on 3 brackets, both with 2/2-pane sashes; second-storey
windows with corbels to cills and plate-glass sashes.
INTERIOR: shutters in 2 sections with 3 panels to the lower
ones. Shown on Ashmead's 1855 Map of Bristol.
