Terrace of 6 houses. c1830. By William Armstrong. Stucco with
limestone dressings, roof not visible. Late Georgian style.
Each of 3 storeys; 2-window range. Articulated by pilasters to
a cornice and parapet; the 3 houses to the left have banded
rustication to the ground floor. Right-hand
semicircular-arched doorways with consoles to moulded
canopies, 2-panel doors and tear-drop fanlights; plain windows
with 6/6-pane sashes, smaller on the second floor which are
set in semicircular-arched recesses. INTERIOR: halls with
semicircular arches and cornices with open brackets, dogleg
stairs at the sides to the rear with slender turned balusters
and turned newels, foliate cornices and ceiling roses, 6-panel
doors and 3-panel shutters. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached
spear-headed area railings.
