Pair of attached houses. c1850. Probably by William Armstrong.
Limestone ashlar, ashlar end stacks, raised party wall and
pantile left and slate right hip roof. Double-depth plan.
Italianate style. Each of 2 storeys; 2-window range. A
symmetrical pair with entrance blocks in the ends: No.8 has
6-panel doors, No.7 has round-arched doorway with a
plate-glass overlight and C20 porch. Plain windows, taller on
the ground floor: No.8 has 6/6-pane sashes, with mid C19
round-cornered wrought-iron balconies, No.7 has plate-glass
sashes. INTERIOR not inspected. Shown on Ashmead's Map of
Bristol 1855 edition, on which the matching 3 houses at the
right-hand end of the N side of Fremantle Square are not
shown.
