forecourt walls and railings

2 villas, now public house. c1830s. Stucco on masonry; hipped
asbestos slate roof with projecting eaves. L-shaped plan on
street corner. 2 storeys; 3-window range to Frances Street,
4-window range to Castle Street. Early C19 sixteen-pane
first-floor sashes, C20 horned 16-pane sashes to ground floor
and early C19 sash with margin panes to right of Castle Street
front, all set in raised stucco architraves with vermiculated
keys. Later C19 stuccoed canted porch with cornice to parapet
and mid C20 door on angle between fronts; blind window above
central semi-circular arched doorway with mid C20 door set in
raised stucco architrave to Castle Street front and bracketed
cornice over 6-panel door set in architrave with decorative
fanlight. INTERIOR: altered on ground floor with plaster
stripped from walls, otherwise not inspected. SUBSIDIARY
FEATURES: low dressed granite forecourt walls as plinths for
C19 iron railings and granite steps up to porch.
