Stone benefit board. -In the year 1708 sir Thomas Barker baronet by his Will charged 8 pounds a year on the Home Close (a field) for the Poor of Lyndon, to be due quarterly and distributed by the Lord of the Manor and the Rector of the Parish-. This Thomas Barker died without direct heirs and the Hall passed to Samuel Barker of South Luffenham, the father of Thomas Barker, the meteorologist. (Photo Apr 2008).
