Cottage. Dated 1682 with C18 and C20 alterations. Squared rubble, stone dressings,
stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 4 bays. Entrance left of centre has moulded surround
and decorated lintel dated and inscribed HMB (Henry and Mary Brown); plank door.
Ground floor: left-hand former 2-light chamfered window, mullion now missing, hood-
mould; central 2-light chamfered mullioned window with C17 surround, laterheightened,
and c1980 mullion; right-hand late C18 3-light flat faced mullioned window. Upper
floor: two 3-light chamfered mullioned windows, central single-light chamfered
window, right-hand 3-light ovolo mullioned window. All windows have C20 fixed lights
or casements. Right of centre ridge stack. Interior: front left-hand room contains
C17 fireplace with basket arched lintel; central room contains early C18 fireplace
with moulded surround and mantlepiece supported by consoles. Source: T I Roberts,
